MGM Mirage forms committee for Tracinda negotiations

Hotel & Motel Management, Thursday, May 24, 2007 at 2:08:36 PM

MGM MIRAGE today announced that in response to an amended Schedule 13D filed by Tracinda Corporation with the Securities and Exchange Commission on May 21, 2007, in which Tracinda stated: "[Tracinda] intends to enter into negotiations with MGM MIRAGE to purchase the Bellagio Hotel and Casino and City Center properties. Tracinda also wishes to pursue strategic alternatives with respect to its investment in MGM MIRAGE which may include financial restructuring transactions involving all or a substantial portion of the remainder of the Company. Tracinda has made no decision with respect to any such restructuring transactions and reserves the right not to engage in or approve any transaction," MGM MIRAGE's Board of Directors has formed a Transactions Committee comprised of non-management, independent directors, not affiliated with Tracinda, to consider Tracinda's statement and strategic alternatives available to MGM MIRAGE.

MGM MIRAGE also advised that there can be no assurances that this process will result in any specific transactions. MGM MIRAGE added that it does not expect, at this point, to disclose any developments regarding its exploration of strategic alternatives.

Two Neapolitans literally on a roll in Vegas

Naples Sun Times, Saturday, January 20, 2007 at 8:52:25 AM

There is no need to describe Vegas really. Doesn't it speak for itself, what with a weekly TV drama in its name? How many Boomers out there haven't experienced Elvis in Viva more than a time or two? This past October, my friend Judy and I left Naples for a not-so-standard five-day, four-night adventure to the desert sin city.

It was definitely in the adventure category for us retirees, as we both have some mobility concerns: moi's both ankles were fractured in an automobile accident; Judy has knee issues. The tour package we purchased had us staying at the Bellagio, a top hotel, where friends told me we could literally spend the entire four days and be pleasantly entertained.

After picking up my travel buddy in the dark hours of a Monday morning we were off to see the city built by Bugsy. I luckily happened to be seated on the right side of the plane in the window seat as we flew over the Grand Canyon. Breathtaking. Getting through the airport with the wheelchair for her and a walking sidewalk for me was a breeze. A shuttle $5 (included as a voucher), took us on our first look-see of Vegas. We arrived at the Bellagio, and it was fab. The Dale Chihuly ceiling - about 10 times the size of the one in the Museum of Art at the Phil - was like a field of huge glass wildflowers strewn about. There is a Chihuly gallery onsite if you want to include a piece in your own art collection.

“I have had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful hotel since it opened in 1998. There were a few service problems at the beginning, but don't all hotels? The new spa tower is devine and the dining choices are great. The newly remodeled spa and salon are a great addition to the amenities offered at this hotel. Bellagio is still my first choice in hotels in Vegas for its longevity as a first class hotel.”

“Great hotel, and great casino. I wasn't impressed when Bellagio first opened, but they eventually worked out the bugs, and the hotel is first-rate!”
