Boomtown Casino and Hotel Reno recently hired William Johns as the new Executive Chef for the property.
Mr. Johns most recently served as the Executive Sous Chef at Lahontan Golf Club in Truckee, Calif. He has worked as a chef in his home town, Truckee, since 1999 in restaurants such as the Resort at Squaw Creek and Moody’s Bistro and Lounge. Previously, he worked in the food and beverage industry in Florida, Indiana and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Mr. Johns is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, where he earned an associate degree in culinary arts.
“We’re going to be working on the menu items and plate presentations in each of the three restaurants.” said Johns, “It’s all part of the process to give the entire property a more upscale feel.”
Mr. Johns said he’s thrilled to be working with such a talented staff. Three of Boomtown’s chefs have recently completed classes at The Culinary Institute of America, where they participated in the prestigious Pro Chef 1 program.
