After 32 years next to the Reno Arch over Virginia Street, Fitzgeralds Casino Hotel pulled the plug on its slot machines and closed the doors for good on November 30.
The plan for the property, announced by owner Fernando Leal (of L3 Development, owner of the Montage condo project), is to reopen the building in two to three years as a hotel with convention space, indoor entertainment center, shops, restaurants, and no casino.

L3 Development, the company that bought Fitzgeralds last year says it's time to bring in something new.
The company plans to convert the landmark into a boutique hotel, moving away from a gaming centric model. Instead the developers want to fill it up with restaurants and shops.
